Sala Thai (July 2014)
432 N. Litchfield Rd, Goodyear AZ
Upon entering Sala Thai Restaurant, we were greeted by the Sawatdee Lady, a wooden statue of a traditional “Thai Greeting Lady”, along with Owner
Pakaket Alford and her friendly staff. We were immediately seated.
To begin, our drink offerings included various choices of alcohol, two Thai beers, Chang and Thai Singha, sodas, mocktails, and teas, hot or cold. Our group decided on the combination platter for an appetizer and three different soups. We were told in advance, “it’s all about the sauces”! The peanut sauce was amazing! We chose Tom Yum, Tom Kra Gai (Coconut Milk Soup) and Green Curry Vegetable.
The entire group enjoyed all three soups even though two in the group do not like coconut! The good news is there is a descriptive list of ingredients under each soup name on the menu. Before we move to the main entrees, we must tell you
that each patron controls his/her destiny in regard to how spicy/hot food will be. The levels of spiciness range from zero to six, with number six being Thai hot. We followed the recommendation to order on the mild side as we could always ask for additional chillies on the side. The non-spicy patrons in the group could not handle more than #2 on the spice scale. However, all agreed the dishes were equally good! One note to mention is the flexibility of the menu. Sala Thai is happy to alter any food item to fit diet requirements!
We ordered the recommended Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert. We were not disappointed! Our dining experience was enjoyed by all! Though we chose mainly chicken and fish dishes, pork and BBQ pork were options, as well as numerous vegetarian dishes. We also observed carry out being quite a popular option and were told Sala Thai caters, as well. Additionally, Sala Thai offers $7.99 daily lunch specials from 10:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday, which include entree, soup, salad and egg roll.
Also, Sala Thai Restaurant offers a reward program for eating at their establishment. Patrons receive a loyalty card that is punched for each visit. Once you have seven punches, you will receive $20 worth of food on your next visit.
