Ground Control (Date)
4860 N. Litchfield Rd. #103, Litchfield Park AZ
300 beers from around the world. Yes they are known for their variety of great tasting roasted coffees by Owner and Master Roaster Sean Rassas, which will wake up you and your taste buds any time of day, but Ground Control, where community happens, is not a sports bar or a wine warehouse, but you can still find a selection of over 450 wine labels and a huge selection ofd Control is much more than that. An extensive menu including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts, a fully stocked bar including beer, wine and top shelf alcohol, bottles of wine that can be purchased by the bottle or case, and don’t forget the entertainment.
I’ve had a variety of beers in my time, but sampled a few high-end imports with owner, Sean Rassas. The Firestone Walker Double Jack 1PA and the St. Bernadaus were outstanding. Sean described the flavors dead on and at $8 a glass, were well worth it. Just don’t ask for a Miller, Budweiser or Coors. As they state, ‘no crap on tap.’ The wine list changes every 2-3 months and they offer Wine Tastings every Tuesday and Saturday night to educate their patrons.
Beer Tasting is every 3rd Thursday of the month; I am going to call now to sign-up. Pick any item on the menu, you really can’t go wrong. Among our particular favorites were the Salmon Crostini with beautiful, hand blended salmon cream cheese, salty capers and sweet red onions. The Angus Burger on a pretzel bun, topped with melted cheese and a pickled relish and the Chipotle Turkey Panini which had a bit of a spicy kick, were both delicious.
The Half Baked Goodness was nothing less than perfect. I am not typically a dessert person and found myself asking for another to take home. This was an oversize, hot out of the oven, gooey chocolate chip cookie, topped with your choice of homemade gelato, we had mint chocolate chip.
This unique restaurant concept offers the combination of a coffee house, wine bar, and friendly family style casual dining experience. There are plans in the works for expansion in the West Valley. We wish Sean and Tara continued success with their establishment.
